Honda Monkey 125: Gianclaudio Aiossa's adventure between Reggio Calabria, North Cape and Rome [PHOTO]

The proposal of the motorbike traveler Gianclaudio Aiossa, addressed to Honda, appeared suggestive: to reach North Cape on a motorcycle more suited to an urban context, rather than on a touring model. That is, riding one Honda Monkey 125.

The trip

It all took shape last year 5 July. The Gianclaudio Aiossa recounted the journey of over 10.000 km starting from Reggio Calabria directed towards North Cape. A challenge just as interesting as the previous ones already faced on specimens of Honda. For example like that of 2015, reaching theIceland on a HondaNC750X. Or that of the year following the Gibraltar Race on a african twin, which also allowed him to explore the entire Iberian Peninsula before returning to Reggio Calabria. After leaving from Reggio Calabria, the Italian motorbike traveler made two stages in Italy, as many in Germany, subsequently stopping once in Denmark and on two other occasions in Sweden, before reaching North Cape in Norway. In the final phase she preferred to rest for a couple of hours at a table at a petrol station. Take souvenir photos in front of the globe, further 2 hours of rest before the new departure towards Beautiful country. Continuing clockwise he crossed the borders of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, then returned to Italy, first stopping in Ravenna resting over the weekend and then reaching the headquarters Honda MotorEurope a Roma, always riding the example of Honda Mokey 125 on which he had loaded his luggage from 40 kg. A trip from 10.100 km completed in 18 days, as reported, in most cases traveling along state or secondary roads considering the characteristics of the vehicle itself.
Honda Mankey 125 features wheels 12 inches and4T 125 cc single-cylinder unit that offers nearly 10 horses (9,4). Apart from some countries which also allow access to motorbikes with an engine capacity of less than 150 cc, Gianclaudio Aiossa was unable to travel on motorways and express roads in most of the itinerary, only maintaining a higher speed in some cases. Among the characteristics of the Monkey 125 there is also a large saddle and a notable design consistency, given that the rider did not report any major problems, simply three small oil top-ups and a rear tire “flattened”. Therefore, an objective successfully achieved, also capturing the attention of those who arrived at the North Cape on touring motorbikes.
