Honda GL1800 Gold Wing 2020: updates for the example with 6-cylinder boxer engine [PHOTO]

A technical evolution, considering the mapping of the power supply and the dual clutch gearbox DCT updated and up “Tour” a new suspension set-up and grab handles for the passenger, as well as new colours, as reported. We talk about the Honda GL1800 Gold Wing 2020.

The newness

Two models proposed: one “GL1800 Gold Wing” with side cases and standard windshield, so one “GL1800 Gold Wing Tour” which includes a top box and tall windshield. The concept is distinguishable by the molded and aerodynamic fairing, an electrically operable windshield thus solutions such as a Smart-Key system and Apple CarPlay connectivity as well as Bluetooth, LCD display and 7-inch TFT color screen, aluminum twin-spar frame with powertrain and rider arranged in a forward position, therefore front suspension with double wishbone and advanced steerer with Pro-Arm single-arm type solution at the rear, as indicated. The model had already been extensively evolved and reshaped with the introduction of the 2018 model year. The new colors also include Darkness Black Metallic / Gray e Pearl Glare White linked to the “Tour” with DCT.

Technical aspects

The boxer engine a 6 cylinders transmits 126 horses of power at 5.500 rpm and a torque of 170 Nm a 4.500 rpm, called by a command Throttle By Wire and regulated by 4 Riding Modes: Tour, Sport, econ e Rain . The development of the chassis and engine was joint, as mentioned, observing the advanced setting of the model and the definition of the project. The aluminum double-spar frame wraps the front suspension, with the consequent advancement of the boxer heart. The front end was studied by evaluating an attenuation of friction, in light of the vertical movement of the front wheel, always considering the indications.
