Honda: the evolution of the Fireblade lineage [VIDEO]
Fast forward in time since 1992
The forms change, the years change and the history of Fireblade. A name linked to two-wheeled sportiness Honda.
Technology and performance
From the historian Honda CBR900RR FireBlade, name with a capital B, remembering the designer of the model until 2003 Tadao Baba, you can see in the video the aesthetic and conceptual evolution up to the new one CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, also available in the SP version.
An example developed thanks to the work of digital simulation experts, model makers and designers from the Honda R&D centre, together with specialists from Honda's Racing division, HRC. A conjunction between different functional aspects for performance and speed, evaluating among the main factors a streamlined profile, the resized fairing and other key features until obtaining a resistance coefficient of 0,270. Also highlighted are the aerodynamic "fins" derived from MotoGP experience, developed to promote downforce and stability, as indicated. The specimen can wear a Grand Prix Red color (a reference to the characteristic HRC colors) or Matte Pearl Black.
It features an inline four-cylinder engine, the most powerful series developed by the Japanese brand and develops 217,5 horses of maximum power at 14.500 rpm and a torque of 113 Nm at 12.500 rpm, in relation to the 201 kg indicated with a full tank of petrol.
Technological aspects include a sophisticated 6-axis Bosch inertial platform (IMU) and a new titanium exhaust terminal with choke valve, in collaboration with the specialist Akrapovič. The version SP it includes electronic Öhlins suspensions compared to the multi-adjustable Showa ones, a Brembo Stylema front braking system instead of a Nissin one, so the rear caliper remains Brembo as on the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.
