Honda DCT: the versatility of the off-road solution [VIDEO]

The qualities of Honda DCT dual clutch transmission, introduced by the manufacturer on various motorbikes, are highlighted in off-road use in a film proposed by Honda Motorcycles Europe on Youtube. The protagonist of the video is also the champion of the 2022 edition of the Dakar Rally, Ricky Brabec.

The Honda DCT system

Among the important factors of this system, we particularly highlight the possibility of choosing between a mode Manual and Automatica. Gear changes are favored by paddles located on the left handlebar block and the mechanism appears resistant, considering the presence of steel gears.

Two hydraulically managed clutches are used which limit shifting times, having the previous or next ratio available.
The solution DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) is linked to several Honda examples. The overview is varied and ranges from the Honda NC750X to the aforementioned CRF1100L Africa Twin also in the Adventure Sports version.

The most recent examples of the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin are equipped with instrumentation on a 6,5-inch TFT screen, together with solutions for interaction and support for the motorcyclist, considering a six-axis IMU inertial platform and six Riding Modes of which four preset and two customizable.

Structurally, in addition to a semi-double cradle steel frame, there is also an aluminum seat support frame. The suspension part of the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin is made up of multi-adjustable suspensions, while the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports is equipped with solutions with the Showa EERA™ electronic system.
The engine is a parallel twin-cylinder heart 1.084 cc. The power amounts to 102 horses, the pair vertex is equal to 105 Nm.
Since 2010, DCT technology has represented one of the reference systems in this field, designed for use on daily sections or to tackle more demanding routes.
