Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin: Android Auto system available [PHOTO]

Honda MotorEurope announces that Android Auto™ is now available for the sample CRF1100L Africa Twin.

An evocative name

The wording “Africa Twin” it first appeared on the Honda range in 1988, at the launch of the XRV650 Africa Twin given the prototype's various successes at the Paris-Dakar NXR750. After XRV750 Africa Twin in the first years of the new century and an absence from the price lists, in 2016 a was introduced CRF1000L Africa Twin. A model equipped with a substantial twin-cylinder engine and 21 and 18 inch wheels. The name Africa Twin has returned to the forefront of the construction scene, capturing the attention of several enthusiasts of exploration on two wheels. Then in 2019 the new one was introduced CRF1100L Africa Twin, advanced in terms of weight and power and with high-quality electronic equipment. With over 10.000 units registered, the Africa Twin was the best-selling Honda model in Europe in 2020, as reported.

Information

It is specified that Android Auto™ requires an Android smartphone with Android 5.0 or higher operating system and the Android Auto™ app. While riding, a Bluetooth® connection is required with a helmet intercom, offered separately.
Since the introduction of the 2020 model, the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin is characterized by an advanced electronic equipment considering a TFT color display touch type and Apple CarPlay™ connectivity for iPhone smartphones, such as the Honda GL1800 Gold Wing.

It is now possible to upgrade the model's dashboard to also connect an Android smartphone and use Android Auto™ to use some of the phone's features while driving the vehicle. By acting on the handlebar or voice commands, therefore still with the bike stopped using the "touch" TFT screen, it is possible to access the various apps. A new feature in addition to the aforementioned Apple CarPlay™ which enhances interaction with the vehicle.
After the GL1800 Gold Wing, the Africa Twin is Honda's second two-wheeler with the availability of Android Auto™ and Apple Car Play™ solutions. A testimony to the increase in specimens equipped with connectivity functions, keeping the system in mind HSVC (Honda Smartphone Voice Control system) and the proprietary app Honda RoadSync on models such as CB1000R, X-ADV, Force 750, also available on Force 350.
