Honda CBR500R and CBR650R: the new versions inspired by the Fireblade presented at EICMA 2018
New look and improved performance, the CBR600F is no longer included in the list
Honda's 'small' super sports cars get a new look, taking inspiration from their bigger sister, the Fireblade.
In-depth update work was carried out on the 500 from the Golden Wing house, launched on the market in 2013. From an aesthetic point of view, the bike now appears more 'streamlined'. The riding position also changes, now less loaded on the front. As with almost all the new features presented for 2019, the CBR500R also underwent major work on the engine, which however did not reach the maximum power and torque values, to remain within the standards of the A2 licence. However, the torque distribution changes, now fuller at low and medium speeds. The exhaust system has also been updated.
The 500 CBR2019R is available in Italy in the colors: Matt Axis Gray Metallic and Grand Prix Red.
Important interventions also on the CBR650R, which will send the F version into retirement. In addition to the new design, which can be admired in the gallery below, the most interesting intervention was made on the engine.
The 4 cc inline 650-cylinder has 4 more HP, for a total of 95, and lots of torque at all speeds. It will also be available in a 35 kW version for A2 license holders. The weight has been reduced by approximately 6 kg, reaching 207 kg thanks to the new redesigned tank and many other small measures. The suspension department is entrusted to a 41 mm Showa SFF (Separate Fork Function) upside-down fork, while the rear shock absorber has seven position adjustable preload. The braking system is also new and now relies on 310 mm floating discs and 4-piston calipers, while at the rear there is a 240 mm disc.
The new 650 CBR2019R is available in the following colors: Grand Prix Red and Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic.
