Honda ADV350: a new scooter with a crossover character [PHOTO]

330 cc eSP+ engine, maximum power of 29,2 horsepower

An aspect that immediately suggests versatile qualities combined with the typical characteristics of a medium-sized scooter. The new Honda ADV350 groups together the aspects of different segments which in this case coexist in symbiosis.

Design

Thinking back to the known “Two-wheeled SUV” X-ADV, this example has an appearance that connects it to the crossover overview, observing in particular the clear lines, the front lights raised compared to the wheel, the fairing which highlights the upside down fork and the slender side panels which still suggest its versatile nature, as well to the colors which in turn underline the aesthetics: Spangle Silver Metallic, Matt Carbonium Gray Metallic e Matt Carnelian Red Metallic. Also highlighted are some matching accessories.

Solutions and technique

The example is equipped with a windscreen with travel of 133 millimeters adjustable to four positions, via a sliding lock mechanism. The saddle is placed at a height of 795 mm and features an LCD dashboard with integrated Honda Smartphone Voice Control system connectivity with Bluetooth, using the proprietary Honda Road Sync app. Among the solutions that enhance practicality, we highlight a Smart-Key with which to start the vehicle, open the compartment under the saddle and manage the Smart‐Top Box 50 liter capacity which is standard on the Italian market. The space under the saddle gives 48 liters it can accommodate two full-face helmets or and it is possible to divide it with a bulkhead that can be located in different points. Also highlighted is a left front storage compartment with a USB-C socket for charging smartphones or other devices, as indicated.
The frame is tubular in steel and the suspension part is made up of a motorcycle fork with an upper and lower plate with upside down stems. 37 mm and excursion 125 mm, a one-piece aluminum swingarm and rear shocks with separate reservoir and wheel travel of 130 mm. The braking system includes a single front disc 256 mm with 2-piston caliper and another rear one from 240 mm with single-piston caliper managed by two-channel ABS. The directional indicators are equipped with an ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) emergency braking system, flashing to warn drivers of other vehicles in the event of sudden braking.
Also of note are a 15-inch light alloy front wheel and a 14-inch rear wheel with a six-cross spoke design, which fit 120/70-15" and 140/70-14" tubeless tires with semi-knobby tread.
The wheelbase extends for 1.520 mm, the tank has a capacity of 11,7 liters, the ground clearance reaches i 145 mm and the weight with a full tank of fuel is 186 kg.

Motor

The approved propulsion unit Euro 5 It is SOHC single shaft 330 cc eSP+ (enhanced Smart Power+), four-valve, liquid-cooled. Features friction-reducing technologies.
This example is also equipped with two-level HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) traction control. The system monitors possible variations between the speed of the front and rear wheel, calculates the slip ratio and manages the torque delivered via the electronic injection system to recover the grip of the tire behind. The system can be deactivated using a switch located on the left block. A warning light marked “T” on the dashboard flashes when the system is managing grip, as mentioned.
The power vertex is of 29,2 horses (21,5 kW) at 7.500 rpm, the torque figure is 31,5 Nm at 5.250 rpm.
