Helbiz, a company specializing in micromobility, announced today that it has signed a letter of intent for the acquisition of Wheels, an electric mobility platform in the management of the last mile with a technology that allows the helmet to be integrated into the means of transport. The acquisition is subject to standard preconditions for these types of transactions and is expected to be completed by the end of the year, as indicated.

The vehicle Wheels has a uniqueness in the industry, a two-wheeled device equipped with a patented integrated helmet technology. A pioneer in interchangeable battery technology, which keeps vehicles on the roads for longer and guarantees profitability margins. Wheels is a company founded in 2018 and is led by veterans of the micromobility and shared transport sectors with backgrounds in Zipcar, Bird and Uber. 
Helbiz It currently manages 50 licenses between the United States and Italy and offers users a diverse fleet of scooters, bicycles and scooters available for rental through the Helbiz app.
The Wheels model, considering the vehicle and the business model, presents a new way of thinking about micro-mobility. It currently has eight thousand vehicles distributed across twelve cities and four college campuses in major US markets, including New York City, Honolulu and Austin and is the only operator in the four licensed markets of the Los Angeles metropolis (LA, Santa Monica, West Hollywood and Culver City). It operates in shared mobility supported by a strong push for subscriptions and a B2B channel that involves collaboration with partner companies.
