Harley-Davidson LiveWire: A cross-border journey in the United States

Cross the vast US territory from one border to another, riding an electric one Harley-Davidson® LiveWire™. It is the synthesis of the goal achieved by a fifty-year-old Californian.

The initiative

Il June 22 Diego Cardenas undertook a long journey from San Ysidro, California, covering riding the LiveWire™ over 2.253 km, reaching his fiftieth birthday, on 30nd June, the US city of Blaine in Washington State, on the border with Canada. During the trip, he shared his itinerary via social media and those who followed his feat were able to meet him in person and motivate him. Several stops allowed the protagonist to take some tourist tours with his wife and his eight-year-old daughter, who followed him in a car.

The motorcycle

The new Harley-Davidson® LiveWire™ it is an entirely electric example, equipped with a distinctive design and newly developed technology. Power is tied to a 15,5 kWh high-voltage battery, referred to as RESS, a rechargeable energy storage system. A solution made up of lithium ion cells and present centrally, embraced by a cast aluminum frame. Regeneration is programmed based on four driving modes (Sport Mode, Road Mode, Range Mode and Rain Mode) and can be managed, as indicated.
The permanent magnet electric drive HD Revelation™ transmits 105 horses (78 kW) of maximum power e 116 Nm of couple.

The itinerary

Riding the LiveWire™ the journey was traced from the US border with Mexico to the Canadian border on the West Coast Green Highway. WCGH is a network of direct current fast charging stations for electric vehicles, located every 40-80 km along the I-5 highway and other main roads in the states of Washington, Oregon and California.
Diego Cardenas hoped to be able to celebrate his 50th birthday in Spain, but in the spring everything changed and he decided to make this trip, respecting social distancing and having an interesting experience.
