Harley Davidson: LiveWire arrives, zero emissions but also zero noise

Its features include reduced weight and a range of 160 km

The lines are decidedly Buell-derived, to give the new addition a sporty appearance and capable of conquering a more transversal audience

Harley Davidson – And in the end electric technology also conquered Harley Davidson. After the first renderings circulating online in recent weeks, the real photos now make a long-awaited rumor official: Harley Davidson will produce the first 100% electric motorbike.

Revolution or involution, it is too early to say, given that there are few certainties surrounding this project. What we cannot fail to underline is the choice, or rather the epochal turning point, that the American company has taken which with its Live Wire betrays, at least on this occasion, its history of powerful engines with an unmistakable sound to create a zero-emission product. Matt levatich, hd CEO, also spoke out about the construction time, stating that the bike will be ready within 18 months. The announcement has raised many doubts because it comes from a company that has made the roar of the engine one of its characteristics, but Harley Davidson flaunts confidence, strengthened by the fact that the electric motorbike market, although still limited, is growing and the company aims to quickly become a leader. The chief financial officer, John Olin, added that Harley Davidson plans to spend $25 million to $50 million a year over the next few years on electric technology.

According to the first rumours, one of the main features of LiveWire will be that of being very light. Someone whispers more with a weight closer to a bicycle than a motorcycle and will have aautonomy of at least 160 km. The lines are decidedly Buell-derived, to give the new addition a sporty appearance and capable of conquering a more transversal audience. Provided, however, that you have a good balance in the bank, given that it shouldn't cost less than 50.000 €.
