Harley-Davidson lights up this end of August by announcing the release of the new one FXDR 114CI 2019, characterized by a design inspired by drag racing, with aluminum swingarm, light alloy wheels, extensive use of composite components to reduce weight and an engine that is a concentrate of torque and power.

Harley-Davidson FXDR 114CI: the features

The new Harley Davidson FXDR 114 It immediately shows itself for what it is: a beautiful cruiser with lots of muscles and the intention of further raising the performance bar. The bike is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine which offers even more excitement by being able to push a vehicle lightened by the extensive use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and composite elements. The new FXDR 114 is the tenth Harley-Davidson model based on the Softail platform. The aluminum swingarm of the new FXDR 114, for example, allows a weight reduction of 4,62 kg (-43%) compared to a steel Softail swingarm for a 240 rear tire. Since this is unsprung weight , has a significant effect on the performance of the rear suspension; and the effect is amplified by the use of a lightweight 18" aluminum wheel. The 19-inch forged aluminum Ace front wheel has a lightweight design with very thin spokes. The seat and tail section of the new FXDR 114 are supported by a counter-frame made of welded aluminum tubes, while the tail section is made of composite material. This structure replaces the steel subframe, steel fender and aluminum fender mounts used on other Softail models, resulting in a weight savings of approximately 3,17 pounds. The fenders are also made of lightweight composite material.

Harley-Davidson FXDR 114CI: reactions from Milwaukee

David Latz, Lead Product Manager of Harley-Davidson, analyzes the new addition to HD in this way: “This bike is truly a blast to ride. The new FXDR 114 wraps the premium Softail chassis with all the punch and power of the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine, new high-quality front and rear suspension, and plenty of lightweight components and materials to keep weight down. It is a power cruiser capable of offering exceptional driving and handling qualities“. The words of Brad Richards, Vice President of Style and Design at Harley-Davidson, are full of enthusiasm: “The appearance of the new FXDR 114 expresses its full performance potential and highlights the technical features that distinguish it from the rest of the Softail range. The influence of drag bikes is strong with the massive, upside-down front end, the large air intake and exhaust, the contrast in terms of proportions between the wheels and the truncated tail section. But we also made sure to highlight exquisitely technical elements such as the aluminum swingarm, the digital instrumentation fully integrated and fully under control by the rider or the suspension adjuster, all elements that contribute to defining the mission of this bike, which is that of offering absolute performance and not just performance on the forehand".
