Harley Davidson, 19.000 motorbikes with brake master cylinder problems

Harley Davidson – More than 19.000 Harley Davidsons have been recalled and are expected in dealerships for some upgrades front brake pump. According to NHTSA sources, the potential number of units affected by the problem would be 19.105, all belonging to the same year, 2012.

Multiple versions of the Harley Davidson Dyna and Softail they may have been equipped with a banjo bolt incorrectly manufactured in the front brake master cylinder. Under certain conditions the threads of this bolt may corrode under the action of brake fluid and could cause leaks, resulting in loss of braking power in the front wheel. Corrosion of the wire could cause brake fluid to leak, not allowing power to stop and thus increasing the risk of an accident. In fact, with around 75% of a motorcycle's braking power, it is entrusted to the front brakes and it is easy to understand how this could become very serious.

The official documents of NHTSA they do not report any accidents or injuries resulting from this problem which occurred on Harley Davidsons, also because in this period of the year there are fewer people riding a motorcycle from the legendary Milwaukee manufacturer. The affected motorcycles were produced between August 22, 2011 and February 22, 2012, and belong to the following series: FXST103, FLSTC, FLSTC103, FLSTF, FLSTF103, FXDL, FXDWG, FXDWG103, FXDC, FXDB, FLSTN, FLSTN103, FLSTC103Shrine, FLSTFB , FLSTFB103, FXS, FXS103, FLS, FLS103, FLD, FLD103, FXDF, and FXDF103.
