Il Piaggio Group (PIA.MI) highlighted that theinvalidity division of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) declared the design registered by a Chinese national, used to justify the creation of scooters similar to, to be invalid Vespa, shown on the occasion of EICMA 2019 and had them removed by the competent authorities of the Fair upon notification from Piaggio, as mentioned.

This action is part of a broad fight against counterfeiting that the Piaggio Group has been carrying out for years, constantly monitoring databases of designs and registered trademarks on an international scale, following opposition proceedings instituted by Piaggio itself, with the cancellation of over 50 registered trademarks by third parties over the last two years, as reported.
THEinvalidity division of the EUIPO unregistered because “unable to create a different overall impression from the registered design” of Vespa Primavera, considering that it represented an illicit attempt to reproduce its aesthetic friezes, as emerged. Vespa Primavera is protected by design registered by Piaggio Group in 2013, from the three-dimensional trademark connected to the Vespa scooter and from the copyright that protects the artistic value of the Vespa shape, characterizing and distinctive from afar 1946.
