Piaggio Group, slew of new features at EICMA 2023: from the Aprilia RS 457 to the new Moto Guzzi Stelvio and V85 [PHOTO]

Il Piaggio Group introduces himself to EICMA 2023 consolidating its position first European manufacturer, with 454.400 vehicles sold, a turnover of 1.162,2 million euros and a net profit of 85,7 million euros (the highest ever recorded in the reference period) in the first nine months of the year.

At the Milanese event dedicated to the world of two wheels, the Piaggio Group is the protagonist with the latest innovations from its brands. Aprilia e Moto Guzzi expand their ranges to satisfy an increasingly varied demand, while Vespa Primavera e Vespa Sprint, profoundly renewed in style and technical equipment, confirm themselves as representatives of "made in Italy" style and elegance.

After presenting the RS 660, Aprilia completes its sports family by unveiling the RS 457, a motorcycle that has lightness (159 kg dry, 175 kg with full tank) among its strong points, boasting an optimal weight-power ratio for a motorcycle that can be driven with an A2 license. The Aprilia RS 457 is powered by a modern liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine with double camshaft distribution and four valves per cylinder, capable of 35 kW of power.

Equipped with an aluminum frame that supports the engine and adjustable suspension, the new Aprilia motorcycle boasts complete standard electronic equipment which includes: Ride by Wire accelerator, three Riding Modes, ABS and adjustable and excludable traction control. Among the accessories there is also the quick shift electronic gearbox.

Moto Guzzi Stelvio

Stelvio, the on-off of Moto Guzzi designed for adventurous travel, it is presented at EICMA with the new 90° transverse V-twin "compact block" engine with liquid cooling, combined with the revised 6-speed gearbox, which develops 115 HP of power and 105 Nm of maximum torque . 

The chassis features a high-strength steel tube frame, combined with 19" tubeless spoked rims at the front and 17" at the rear and long-travel suspension. Stelvio is the first Moto Guzzi available with PFF Rider Assistance Solution, an innovative driver assistance platform based on radar technology that allows you to better manage ADAS such as Following Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Information System and Lane Change Decision systems Aid System. 

The top-notch electronic equipment is completed by the Ride by Wire electronic accelerator, by the six-axis platform that best manages the electronic controls for safety (such as ABS Cornering) and fun. There are five Riding Modes: Tourism, Rain, Road, Sport and Off-Road which manage engine braking, ABS, traction control and engine maps. In Off-Road mode it is possible to exclude both ABS and traction control. 

New Moto Guzzi V85 range

The new Moto Guzzi V85, a stylistic and technical evolution of the brand's iconic enduro, features a more contemporary and modern design, manually adjustable windshield, more intuitive handlebar controls and new 5-inch TFT instrumentation. 

From a technical point of view, the new V85 benefits from the air-cooled 90° transverse V-twin engine which earns Euro 5+ approval and delivers a power of 80 HP and a maximum torque of 83 Nm. 

From 2024 Moto Guzzi V85 becomes a range, with three different interpretations for as many mobility needs. V85 Strada it is the most essential version and oriented towards daily use. V85 TT represents the essence of Moto Guzzi's iconic motorcycle dedicated to tourism. V85TT Travel it is the top of the range version with an even more complete touring set-up which includes rigid suitcases, Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform, heated grips and saddle, as well as a more protective windshield.

Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S

The metropolitan soul of Wasp presents itself at EICMA completely renewed, with two models available, Vespa Primavera e Vespa Sprint S, available in different variants and displacements, also in the electric version.

With improved finishes, new materials and even more refined details, the new Vespa Primavera and Sprint S are equipped with new superstructures on the handlebars, new grips, new back shield, improved saddle, keyless system and TFT instrumentation (on the Tech version). 

Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S are available with modern 50, 125 and 150 cc engines with three-valve distribution and electronic injection Euro 5+ approved. The electric versions there are two of Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S: one with speed limited to moped regulations (Moped) and one with motorcycle approval, available in the Primavera Tech setup. The Moped versions feature the novelty of removable batteries for convenient charging even in domestic environments.

As for the brand Piaggio at EICMA the spotlight is on high wheel scooter range with best sellers Liberty, Medley e Beverly which for 2024 offer a choice of engine capacities from 50 to 400 cc, with the sportier S version of all three models featuring the new Sapphire Blue livery. Furthermore, Beverly is now also available in the Nero Cosmo color. 

Another protagonist at EICMA is piagio 1, the electric scooter now available in a new, more powerful version with the moped version offering a peak power of 2,3 kW, while the motorcycle version (Piaggio 1 Active) reaches 3 kW peak. This results in an increase in acceleration for both. Piaggio 1, equipped with color digital instruments, full LED lights and keyless system, also has a large under-seat compartment that can hold a full jet helmet.
