Piaggio Group: with IBM for the interoperability of the various factories

Announced by IBM (NYSE: IBM) and the Piaggio Group (PIA.MI) the completion of the international migration project of Piaggio management applications on SAP S/4 HANA. An aspect that will allow us to accelerate and simplify internal processes, giving Group employees faster and more functional order management systems, amplifying flexibility in services, as reported.

Undertaken in first quarter of 2020, the migration process was carried out by IBM while keeping in mind the regulations and social distancing to combat the pandemic, with constant consolidation by the end of June. A project completed despite the operational difficulties in the testing and production start-up phase in the three countries, with remote support.

Considering the international growth objectives, Piaggio needed to define the project safely and within the deadlines, with the launch of the new system before the high sales season. IBM Services was selected for her great experience, both connected to the new SAP S/4HANA technology, both in the industrial sector. Over 20 years ago, IBM had already carried out the SAP R/3 installation project for Piaggio and has now successfully managed the conversion project, using the new and efficient functions of the management system which associates the transactions of a ERP with cutting-edge technologies. A first step that directs Piaggio towards a "cognitive enterprise" dimension, making the best use of internal and external data to support corporate and business strategies, as indicated.
The Piaggio Group has focused its attention on the rationalization of processes through the upgrade of the common and integrated application infrastructure at its six industrial centers around the world, four of which are in Italy, one in India and one in Vietnam. S/4HANA will offer a centralized view of information, allowing Piaggio a real-time evaluation of management and economic data, on any device and even on the move, giving different tools to examine the data and simulate alternative scenarios, according to the information.
