At the geographical area level, sales volumes increased India (+ 23,5 %) and in the Asia Pacific area (+9,7%), while those recorded in EMEA and America (-4,3%) mainly suffered the effect of the contraction of the 50cc vehicle market.

As of December 31, 2018, the Group sold worldwide 393.100 two-wheeled vehicles growing by 4,6% (376.000 in 2017), for a net turnover of 957,9 million euros (942,1 million euros in 2017). In 2018 the Piaggio Group recorded a strong increase of 30,3% in sales volumes in the Indian two-wheeler market, driven by the excellent results of Vespa e Aprilia SR, and a 9,7% increase in two-wheeler volumes in Asia Pacific was recorded. In the scooter sector, the excellent results of the brand are particularly noteworthy Vespa, which increased global unit sales by 16% and posted its record sales year since 2007; All the main reference markets contributed to this result with a significant increase in India, Asia Pacific and Europe, thanks also to the success achieved by the launch of the special series. Also in the scooter segment, we note the growth in volumes of three-wheelers MP3, in particular thanks to the positive response obtained from the new engines, and the Aprilia SR scooter in the Indian market.
