Piaggio Group and bp: a Memorandum of Understanding to support electric mobility

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Piaggio Group, bp and the Indian affiliate Jio-bp, an Indian joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and bp which works in the field of fuels and mobility, predicts a move towards contractual definition and signing of the agreements, once the collaboration opportunities have been established to offer charging points and interchangeable batteries, as well as services such as “Battery as a Service” (BaaS) with the battery management, leasing and recycling association, but also “Vehicle as a Service” (VaaS) which provides, in addition to leasing, intelligent energy management of vehicles, maintenance and repairs.

Operations will initially be focused on the Indian market, where Jio-bp and the Piaggio Group are already engaged in the development of electric vehicle solutions. The partners therefore aim to verify growth opportunities in Asia, actually like China, Indonesia and Vietnam, so in Europe.
By combining the Piaggio Group's knowledge in the development of electric vehicles and infrastructure management, with the experience and international coverage of bp, the two companies intend to support the diffusion of electric two- and three-wheeled models, as reported in the communicated.
