Motorcyclists' Jubilee – Historic day for the Italian Motorcycle Federation and for all two-wheel enthusiasts. In fact, on Saturday morning in St. Peter's Square in Rome, Pope Francis received 7.500 people including Authorities, Members and Moto Clubs of the IMF in his Jubilee Audience.
Together with the thousands of people belonging to the motorcycling world, various voluntary associations and blood donors were present who contributed to filling the square. The President of the FMI, Paolo Sesti, the Vice Presidents Giovanni Copioli and Fabio Larceri, the Secretary General, Alberto Rinaldelli, the Presidents of the Regional Committees and many riders including Loris Capirossi (three times World Champion in MotoGP), Antonio Cairoli (eight-time Motocross World Champion), David Philippaerts (Motocross World Champion in 2008), Giovanni Sala (five-time Enduro world champion) and Alex Salvini (Enduro World Champion in 2013).
The Holy Father greeted all the faithful present in St. Peter's Square and the IMF then, at the end of the Jubilee Audience, President Sesti wanted to give him a souvenir plaque and, together with Cairoli, the Blue Jersey used in off-road competitions for national teams . "Being able to participate in an event of this magnitude was very exciting.” explained Paolo Sesti. “The Holy Father has once again demonstrated that he is a person of great depth, paying attention to issues of strong social interest. For the Italian Motorcycle Federation, represented by thousands of enthusiasts, it was a historic day that will remain in everyone's memory. I want to thank our members and Moto Clubs who came to Rome from all over Italy, thus sharing the human and sporting values that our passion transmits".
