Through a note released by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories), in World Bicycle Day established by the United Nations in 2018, the opportunities linked to the interest in cycling on an economic and quality of life level are highlighted.

The note

The press release immediately highlights the sales success achieved by the bikes in 2020 with over 2 million pieces sold, equal to +17% considering 2019. A factor to be considered as a vehicle of “unprecedented development opportunities” to be grasped through “a collective effort in order to move from the logic of incentives for purchase to a concrete perspective of incentives for use made of attention on a cultural level, investments in cycle infrastructure and the development of the cycle tourism attractiveness of our country and, above all , to guarantee the safety of those who choose gentle mobility in their daily lives".
The bicycle sector itself in Italy includes various companies of excellence, i.e. around 250 companies in which 15.000 employees are active.
The note further highlights the recent effects of the pandemic and the challenges also linked to an increase in demand: “The sector has in fact had to face the lengthening of delivery times by Asian component suppliers, the increase in sea transport and raw material costs, the difficulties in port logistics: it is important that the market and consumers know the reasons for some slowdowns in deliveries of finished products, but it is also clear that what is happening today also opens up an evolution of our production system which, if supported and accompanied in a subsidiary manner, can create even more employment and value for the system Village", the conclusion of the statement.
