Energica announced the gradual resumption of production activity on a single shift from the day 28 April 2020, in view of a progressive total reopening. A phase linked to one “new interpretation dated 26 April of the Prime Ministerial Decree of 10 April art.2 paragraph 7, in which the proposal of the Governor of Emilia Romagna Stefano Bonaccini was accepted, to restart companies and districts in the manufacturing sector whose activity is of strategic importance for the national economy, including companies whose production and sales are mainly aimed at export", as highlighted.

The phase following the lockdown

Livia Cevolini, CEO Energica Motor Company SpA., underlined that the Modena-based company specialized in the development of high-performance electric motorcycles continued to be vital even during the previous weeks, while keeping in mind the ongoing health emergency. It was therefore defined as one "Road map" for a gradual restart from April 28th, involving in the so-called “first phase” only the production area on a regular single shift with maximum respect for safety protocols, including social distancing. While starting from Monday 4st May we operate in double shifts, with the reactivation of the Sport Production and R&D department to support the production area. Therefore, a return program is outlined for the remaining areas over the following weeks. The activity in mode remains operational smart working in the fields of electronics and technical design, as well as for marketing, sales and administrative activities. A gradual recovery with protection measures already implemented and expanded before the lockdown, is clarified by the CEO Energica Motor Company SpA. On the occasion it is specified that "each employee will be equipped with surgical masks and gloves and disinfection methods for incoming and outgoing goods will be applied."
Giacomo Leone, Energica Sales & Field Marketing Director, then underlined that the trust of many customers remained so even during the quota phase. Therefore a respect for this interest and a restart of deliveries is functional for the recovery of the market itself.

Rules and distancing

Considering what has been mentioned, after the communication sent to the competent Prefect, Energica can resume “as a company mainly oriented towards exports (around 95% exports in 2019)”. A new phase that requires compliance with distancing and safety rules and a “shared protocol for regulating measures to combat and contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus in workplaces” dated 24th April, as highlighted.
