EICMA – Vespa PX, even more exceptional after 36 years

36 years after the launch of Vespa PX, an achievement that very few vehicles can boast, the record appears even more exceptional if you think of the extraordinary levels of diffusion that this great "classic" has achieved: over 3.000.000 copies sold on all continents.

Most of the examples produced and marketed are still in use on the roads all over the world, testifying to the sturdiness and reliability that have become proverbial, but also to the love that binds the owner to his Vespa.

Within the current Vespa range, the PX is the only one to offer the four-speed gearbox on the handlebars: a real "must" for enthusiasts, together with an unmistakable design that is above all fashion.

Technique and style

The design of the dashboard of Vespa PX, without indulging in a retro style, declares itself absolutely timeless from the first glance and complete with instruments for easy, immediate reading. Speedometer with double scale in kilometers and miles and fuel level indicator are illuminated by a neutral light perfectly consistent with the essentiality of the design. The series of warning lights includes the light indicator, the high beam indicator, the turn signal indicator and the fuel reserve indicator.

Il front headlight, made with modern technology complex surfaces, is equipped with a halogen lamp which creates a powerful beam of light which guarantees perfect lighting and therefore provides an essential contribution in terms of active safety.

Il taillight it has always been one of the distinctive elements of every Vespa model. From the small, round taillight of the legendary 98cc of 1946, through the headlight in two distinct elements and chrome parts that embellished the 125cc of 1962, up to the squared one, so typically "70s" of the Primavera ET3. Vespa PX finds soft shapes for the rear light which combines a classic and elegant chromed edge. The red element includes the brake light and the license plate light.

THEbraking system It adopts a stainless steel disc brake with a 200mm diameter at the front and is completed with a powerful and reliable rear drum (150mm in diameter) which ensures perfect braking modulation.

The 125 cc and 150 cc two-stroke single-cylinder engines, cooled by forced air circulation, adopt CDI electronic ignition and start with an electric starter while maintaining the starter kickstarter. After all, how can we imagine the most classic of Vespa models without the splendid starting crank?

Thanks to the adoption of a new catalytic converter designed to reduce polluting emissions, both Vespa PX engines comply with the most stringent and modern Euro3 regulations.
