EICMA means motorcycle, scooter, but also e-bike and more generally space for creativity which, when it comes to two wheels, translates into projects that can improve mobility through innovative solutions.

The e-bile sector conquers EICMA 2018

The 2018 edition of EICMA marked an exponential increase in electric mobility with the now well-known e-bikes reigning supreme with as many as 60 brands exhibiting their products. With a special area dedicated to Pavilion 22, a test ride area where it was possible to touch and try the latest models produced by Italian and international companies, EICMA confirms its attention to the innovation and sustainability of two-wheel mobility wheels. “Pedal-assisted mobility is now a consolidated reality worldwide. And in this scenario our companies also compete to be protagonists: not only in production, which grew by 2017% in 48, but also in the entire supply chain in terms of components, planning, design and patents – commented the president of EICMA, Andrea Dell'Orto -. The market is experiencing very strong growth: last year alone almost 150 thousand e-bikes were sold in Italy, equal to 19% more than 2016 and this year's numbers are also very positive and confirm the trend of growth recorded last year. Innovation has always been the protagonist of our exhibition event, at EICMA there is space for new trends and the most advanced solutions regarding mobility on two wheels. And here you can also test them first hand. The e-bike area, in particular, is already the third year that it has been offered as an opportunity to businesses and enthusiasts and this year it occupies an even larger surface area than previous editions, confirming the growing interest in this world".

At EICMA lots of space dedicated to innovation

Among the most crowded pavilions of EICMA 2018 were those dedicated to start-ups and innovation, also animated by the Design Motorcycle competition aimed at university students. Among these, four deserve particular attention: Paddock, the platform that gives visibility to riders and motorcyclists and helps them find new sponsors; Serrio, the adaptive bracelet that promotes the motorcyclist's lateral visibility; Gecko, the special balaclava that prevents "whiplash" in the event of accidents e Piacere, an exciting graphic design concept based on Ducati. These are the projects that won the Motorcycle Design competition promoted by Confindustria ANCMA in collaboration with ADI (Association for Industrial Design). “Let's see roads that don't yet exist is not only the slogan of this 76th Edition, but tells of the concrete attention to the future of mobility on two wheels that we have always reserved within our exhibition event – added Dell'Orto –. The Start Up and Innovation area is in fact a window onto the future, it is an EICMA bet on young people, where startuppers who are entering the world of two wheels present ideas, solutions and prototypes to the general public".
