EICMA 2018: the Citylife Shopping District opens on Sunday

EICMA – Sunday 4 November the three towers designed by Hadid, Isozaki and Libeskind that make up the CityLife Shopping District of Milan will host the spirit of EICMA with a series of shows that will liven up the external areas of the largest urban district dedicated to shopping in Italy. Many guests are expected including Vittorio Brumotti and Marco Melandri. Furthermore, on the occasion of the centenary of the end of the First World War, a photographic exhibition will be set up inside the Shopping District which will retrace the use of two wheels during the Great War and the history of EICMA from 1914, the date of its first edition, to date.

There will be many experiences that can be had at the Citylife Shopping District. The day will also see the presence of the Marina Romoli Onlus Association, a social reality founded in 2011 following the road accident that turned the life of the cyclist of the same name upside down, making her paraplegic. The association aims to promote and finance scientific research for the cure for paralysis caused by chronic spinal cord injuries and to financially help young athletes in highly disabling conditions due to road accidents or serious injuries suffered during sporting activity . One of the largest parks in the city is therefore preparing to become a real circuit for one day where, among other things, it will be possible to watch the Victory Trophy races, a competition dedicated to fixed gear bicycles (www.projectfixed. it), but also get informed, play and be active protagonists. With the "Cycling with the Champion" initiative, you will have the exclusive opportunity to cycle along the route that winds through the CityLife Shopping District together with professional cyclists, who share the objectives of the Marina Romoli Onlus Association. “Through this event we inaugurate an entire week dedicated to passion for two wheels. It is the kick-off of an EICMA that this year we want to push beyond the exhibition pavilions - Said Andrea Dell'Orto, president of EICMA -. We have chosen a symbolic place of Milan, a piece of the city with which we share the attitude and look to the future without forgetting our roots, where the adventure of our Exhibition began over a hundred years ago”. Sunday's event, promoted by EICMA in collaboration with CityLife Shopping District and organized by the Sportivamente association, will open its doors at 11 am and end at 16.30 pm.
