EICMA 2016: the most important world two-wheel exhibition kicks off in Milan

EICMA 2016 – EICMA 2016, the 74th International Cycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition, was inaugurated today. These elements together give life to an exhibition moment that achieves both B2B and B2C objectives and which makes it possible to reach heterogeneous targets, also thanks to the special areas dedicated to start-ups and innovative companies, e-Bikes, the custom sector and road safety. A point of reference and an event capable of proposing themes well beyond two wheels aimed at meeting the needs of civil society also through contamination with other sectors.

The International Cycle and Motorcycle Exhibition, in addition to its success with the public, is confirmed every year as a fundamental opportunity for companies thanks to the rich B2B program. The media coverage has established that it is the most important event dedicated to two wheels in the world and the only one capable of describing the sector in every aspect: Compared to 2014, there were +12.29% confirmed exhibitors and +12% of surface area net sold, with a gross occupancy of around 280.000 mXNUMX.

Italy is the European country that boasts the largest fleet of motorized two-wheeled vehicles in circulation, 8,5 million vehicles >50cc and 2 million mopeds=50cc (27% of the European total). The national industry produces more vehicles (288 thousand in 2015) than it registers (194 thousand) and can boast a positive trade balance for over twenty years, with a cumulative value of over 10 billion euros; produces more than 50% of the vehicles that leave European factories. The Italian components of the sector historically boast an excellent manufacturing level, at the forefront at a European level. In recent years, unfortunately it has suffered from competition from outside Europe (75% of imports come from Far-East Asia), which mainly produces parts for scooters or small-displacement motorcycles, often practicing pricing policies bordering on dumping.
