EICMA 2013: new Bimota BB3, Italian-Bavarian superperformance

The latest creation from Bimota is a super sports car, with a heart that couldn't be more German given the BMW provenance of the powerful 4-cylinder engine. An engine already seen under the fairings of that BMW S1000RR which from the beginning amazed everyone with the performance it is able to guarantee: 193 HP at 13.000 rpm and 112 Nm of torque. With so much heart, the technicians of the Italian Factory have added an exclusive and exciting line, thus BIMOTA BB3 was born.

When we talk about Bimota, it is obvious that we are talking about a company that has made craftsmanship and "machined from solid" a true credo to follow and propose again and, obviously, Bimota BB3 does not fail to do so. The engine is embraced by a refined mixed structure frame made from a steel tube trellis bolted to light alloy plates machined from solid material. The swingarm is made of light alloy and also machined from solid material. The most demanding in terms of set-up will be able to take advantage of the rear axle height adjustment via an eccentric adjuster positioned on the upper shock mount and will also be able to vary the position of the swingarm pivot. Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes obviously radial and with lightened monobloc calipers and OZ forged rims.

Careful aerodynamics, a wheelbase measured at 1.430 mm and a dry weight of just 179 kg. In short, what we can define as a true "superbike" promises very well. And that's not all. All the electronic package necessary to make this BB3 "usable and easy" comes from the S1000RR: so we have ride by wire, antiwheeling, traction control, electro-assisted gearbox and sport ABS.

In short, after BB1 and BB2 (already largely forgotten), it seems that the light for the marketing of this Bimota BB3 is as green as ever. The price? It is rumored that 34.900 euros are needed to take home this great piece of Italian exclusivity.
