EICMA 2012 – BMW Motorrad presents a special model of the K 1300 S

At the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, BMW Motorrad presents the special and exclusive model K 1300 S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BMW Motorrad K series. It was in 1983 that BMW Motorrad launched the K 100, the first BMW ever equipped with a water-cooled in-line four-cylinder and also equipped with a particular and cutting-edge technological concept for those times: the BMW Compact Drive System with the longitudinally mounted crankshaft and horizontal cylinder bank.

This first generation of K models also introduced technological innovations such as the first electronic fuel injection system. All this was followed, five years later, by the introduction of four-valve technology and the first ABS system ever used on production motorcycles. In 2004, BMW Motorrad created the third generation of the series with the K 1200 S, now with the drive shaft mounted transverse to the direction of travel, as well as with two suspension innovations: Duolever and ESA (electronic suspension adjustment). The BMW K Series was also joined in 2010 by the two inline six-cylinder K 1600 GT/GTL models.

The special model K 1300 S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” celebrates the success story of the K series with a wide range of options and a special livery in Alpine White/Sapphire Black Metallic and Racing Red together with the burnished front fairing.
The ESA II electronic suspension adjustment and the Safety Package with RDC and ASC (automatic stability control), in addition to the standard ABS, guarantee the K 1300 S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” an extremely complete set of safety systems.

The HP shift assistant and HP footrests for the driver and passenger reflect the sporting aspirations of the K 1300 S. At the same time, the Akrapovič sports muffler gives the model the powerful roar typical of a four-cylinder, as well as a dynamic appearance .

The K 1300 S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” also satisfies the most sophisticated needs in terms of comfort with heated grips and on-board computer.

In addition to all this, the special K 1300 S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” model can be individually enriched with special accessories and options chosen from the wide BMW Motorrad range, with the only exception of the colors which remain standard.
