EICMA 2012 – BMW F 800 GT arrives, the evolution of the F 800 ST
BMW Motorrad thus completes its offering in the sports Touring segment
Presenting the new F 800 GT, successor model to the F 800 ST, BMW Motorrad completes its offering in the sports Touring segment, while at the same time marking a new benchmark in the middle class motorcycle segment.
Thanks to the water-cooled 798 cm³ twin-cylinder engine, known for its elasticity, the new F 800 GT can count on a highly dynamic propulsion system. A review of the engine calibration has contributed to increasing the engine power which now delivers 66 kW / 90 HP (F 800 ST: 62,5 kW (85 HP)) at 8 rpm and ensures that the F 000 GT, in Combined with the maintenance-free secondary toothed belt drive, excellent propulsion.
Improved ergonomics, optimized wind and weather protection thanks to the full fairing and a practical luggage system make the F 800 GT a true "Gran Turismo". Faithful to the "360° of safety" principle, the new F 800 GT is equipped as standard with ABS: further systems available as options are the automatic stability control ASC (Automatic Stability Control) and the electronic suspension adjustment ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment ) which ensure the new F 800 GT the highest level of safety and comfort in its segment.
The wide range of original BMW Motorrad accessories also allows the new F 800 GT to be equipped with an Akrapovič sports exhaust. This slip-on type exhaust muffler ensures a particularly pronounced sound from the twin-cylinder. Thanks to the titanium and stainless steel construction, the weight saving compared to the series variant is approximately 1,7 kilograms.
