Faithful to its role as the leading European manufacturer in the two-wheel sector, Piaggio is ready to play a leading role in the upcoming international motorcycle show in Milan. At EICMA 2011, scheduled from tomorrow until Sunday, the Pontedera group will exhibit a series of innovations in both the scooter and motorbike sectors.

First of all we need to mention the Vespa Quarantesi. Name and appearance recall that MP6 prototype from which it all began, but it differs from it in a long series of technical characteristics. Starting from the ultra-modern engine which promises reduced consumption and considerable savings in both gas and noise emissions.
Moto Guzzi couldn't be missing. First of all because this is the year of the 90th anniversary of his birth. Secondly, because the manufacturer has decided to offer the new V7 in three versions, two touring and one sports. The common point is the transverse 90 V-twin with shaft drive and double cradle frame.
Beverly SportTouring (350 engine and 150/70 rear tyre) and Piaggio X10 do not go unnoticed. The latter, in particular, available in the three different engines 125, 350 and 500, is equipped with an on-board computer with LCD screen, triple glove compartment, double ABS and ASR system and backlit controls.
The Aprilia series is enriched with the SRV 850. The distinctive feature is the presence of the 850 cc V-twin scooter engine of 90. With its maximum power of 76 HP and maximum torque of 76,5 Nm, it becomes one of the top of the category. The SR Motard, on the other hand, focuses on city streets and an agile and decisive driving style.
Finally, Derbi's new high-wheel proposal (14 inches) is the Variant Sport with its two 50 2T and 125 4T engines.
The presentation conference proved to be a useful opportunity for the group's president and CEO, Roberto Colaninno, to take stock of the situation: "This is a difficult moment for the economy, which is suffering from the crisis, but which confirms the validity of our products. We will open a new plant in India in the next six months to produce Vespas, scooters and four-wheelers and a plant in Vietnam. Countries that have amazed us with their great development capacity and where we are going to conquer markets dominated by the large Japanese manufacturers".
