Eicma 2010, Piaggio NT3 – live photo
The Piaggio motorcycle manufacturer presented, during the Milan Cycle and Motorcycle Show, which ended last Sunday, a prototype that refers to the historic Ape and which aims to be an interesting vehicle for the expanding markets of southern Italy. East Asia. It's called Piaggio NT3 and it's a small car, with four wheels and two doors, capable of accommodating three occupants (the driver is placed in a more forward position, just like on the McLaren F1 supercar).
The new Piaggio NT3 was presented by Roberto Colaninno, the President of the Pontedera company: this motorcycle will be produced in India, apparently, and, in fact, as proof of this emigration of the construction line, alongside the patron of the brand, the Chairman of the Indian division of Piaggio, Ravy Chopra, was there on the day of the official debut in Milan.
The new Piaggio NT3 will be equipped with three engines, at least according to the first details released: two motorcycle-derived engines, one 200 cubic centimeters and one 300 cubic centimeters, and an ecological architecture, which will complement a 300 cubic centimeter thermal combustion engine and an electric one. The competition we are looking at insistently is an Indian one, Tata Nano, but also a German one, Smart ForTwo, or an English one, Gordon Murray T.27. The concept car of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer present on the stand at Eicma 2010 could cost, if it were produced, around 4.000 dollars, just under 3.000 euros.
