EICMA 2010: Honda New Mid, the motorcycle that thinks it's a scooter

At the EICMA in Milan Honda brought several new models for 2011 and one of these is certainly the New Mid. It is a scooter, for now only at prototype level, which aims to combine the features and practicality of a moped with the driving characteristics of a motorbike.

A decidedly interesting choice by the Japanese company. The aim is to create a vehicle capable of navigating increasingly congested city traffic and at the same time maintaining the fun and strength of a real motorbike. For this reason, a new advanced DCT dual clutch transmission was used, taken directly from the Honda VFR 1200 F, which in addition to being able to adapt to numerous driving conditions, also allows for a significant reduction in engine consumption. Speaking of this, although there is no official data yet, the displacement of the engine should be between 500 and 1.000 cc, so many are thinking of installing a 750 or an 800 cc.

The design lines are also noteworthy, also decidedly inspired by the VFR 1200 F, as are the headlight on the rear shield and the tail. The comfort of the driving position has significantly improved compared to the past and manages to guarantee good protection from atmospheric agents. The 17-inch wheel rims with radial tires top it all off.
