Eicma 2010, Honda Crosstourer Concept – live photo

Crosstourer Concept is another Honda prototype, present at Eicma 2010, i.e. the Milan Motor Show, which was used as a stage for the debut. The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda once again throws itself into a project with particular contours, with eccentric nuances, managing to merge the sportiness and power of a large road fairing with the riding comfort, upright position and agility of an adventure bike with this specific concept.

Honda Crosstourer Concept calls into question the Honda VFR 1200 R for two fundamental elements: the engine and the transmission. From the great Japanese sports touring, Crosstourer takes the 1.237 cubic centimeter engine, its four cylinders arranged in a 76° V, its liquid cooling, its 170 horsepower and its 129 Nm of maximum torque. With this central heart, the new Honda Crosstourer Concept could worry any curve, also for the smooth, linear, continuous power delivery ensured by the revolutionary dual-clutch automatic transmission.

What is it about? Well, a common automotive transmission, so popular today, with two clutches, one dedicated to even ratios, the other to odd ones. When one is engaged, the other prepares the gear that will come next (whether down or up is decided by Madame Electronics), ensuring that the power delivered by the new Crosstourer Concept has no hesitations. A button to engage the transmission, three driving modes (one of which is manual) and two buttons for sequential driving, to be used with the index finger and thumb of the left hand.

The press release said: “Honda has always been committed to allowing its customers to choose innovative designs and technologies. As a manufacturer capable of challenging the conventional way of understanding motorcycles, Honda has always been determined to design and produce two-wheeled vehicles that satisfy the needs and desires of its customers around the world."
