The Highway Code, in regulating circulation outside inhabited centers (article 6) as well as in inhabited centers (article 7), prescribes the rules for the adoption of measures to suspend circulation, generically establishing the administrative sanctions incurred by those who do not complies with suspension or traffic ban measures. Therefore, be careful not to be misled by the most recent circular from the Ministry of Transport n. 12424-DIV3-C of 27 May 2016 which, similarly to what is prescribed for cars, reiterates that motorcycles and mopeds can also fit, without any obligation, “M + S” type tires with a lower speed code than that shown on the registration document (provided that it is not lower than M 130 km/h) without the need to update the registration document. Regardless of the type of tire fitted, the circulation ban for mopeds and motorcycles remains in place in the presence of snow or ice on the road or during snowfall.
