Ducati, Summer School “Physics in Motorcycles” 2017
Tomorrow starts the seventh edition of the summer laboratory of physics applied to motorbikes
The Ducati Foundation for the seventh year in a row, kicks off the seventh edition of the Summer School “Physics in Motion” 2017.
Tomorrow the doors of the Ducati headquarters in Borgo Panigale will be opened 25 kids who were selected from the 115 applications, presented by fourth and fifth year students of high schools and technical institutes throughout Italy.
Motivation, excellent preparation and above all a lot of passion, these are the main requirements which allowed young students to participate in this experience.
The 25 students will be divided into small groups, and supported by a tutor, yes they will discuss the physical principles of mechanics, and will face reality tasks by applying problem solving methods to the design and implementation of an experiment, with related computer simulation.
A commission made up of experts companies in the field of education will evaluate papers and presentations rewarding the best experiment for coherence and consistency.
There will be many new features for this edition, for the first time, a former student of the 2014 Summer School will be present as a tutor, freshly graduated in Physics from the University of Leicester (UK).
There will also be experts from the motorcycle world and technical journalism, such as Maximus Clarke, journalist and writer, who will give a lecture on high-performance engines.
A 360° overview of the Ducati world is ensured by the seminary “How a motorcycle is born between Engineering and Design”, which will be held by Pierluigi Zampieri, innovation manager, and Andrea Ferraresi, Design Center director.
Furthermore, the company's commitment on the subject of ecological and social sustainability.
Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding and President of the Ducati Foundation, will be present at the closing ceremony to greet the 25 kids who will take part in this experience.
