Ducati Streetfighter V4 S 2023: grit, agility and a powerful heart [PHOTO AND VIDEO]

A voracious progression

Deep treble, indicators that demonstrate the energy expressed and agile movements on a track. The character of the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 S emerges from the film proposed by Ducati on Youtube. The protagonist is the naked bike ridden by Ducati Official Tester, Alessandro Valia, on the asphalt of the Andalusia Circuit.

Sporty already when stationary

The aerodynamic, streamlined and tapered design stands out and announces its character strength. Among the aspects that make it recognizable in the panorama of naked sports cars, we highlight a full-LED front light signature with V-shaped DRLs and the characteristic sculpted features interspersed with more sinuous ones. The tank is large and can hold 17 liters of fuel, flanked by new side covers. The dimensions of the model are designed to support the rider when cornering and braking, then another hint of sportiness is the standard single-seater configuration, with seat and passenger footrests available as standard.
Already considering the work done with the Ducati Panigale V4, a model without fairings and equipped with high and wide handlebars, biplane wings and a sophisticated electronic package has taken shape. As well as a classic color Ducati red, only the Streetfighter V4 S is combined with a new livery “Grey Black” characterized by the contrast between a gray tone and the black variations of the different elements.

Technological aspects

Taking a look at the instruments, the graphics have been revised with an external green LED indicator connected to the gear change. The dashboard includes view mode “Track Evo”, with an overall overview of the information and associated systems.
There are always four delivery strategies and they vary between Full, High, Medium e low (in this case the power is limited to 165 horsepower). The first and last are newly conceived and the other two reconfigured in the strategy.
A new strategy for the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) with better fluidity in gear changes, when it is partialized and when it is fully open. Then implemented the logic of Power Mode with calibrations dedicated to the Desmosedici Stradale engine that powers the Streetfighter models.
An unprecedented Riding Mode Wet for optimized driving on low-grip surfaces, it is one of the new features of the model and on the Streetfighter V4 S there is a lithium ion battery with a lighter weight of 1,7 kg compared to the previous one.

Among the electronic changes, an update to the cooling fan control strategy is also highlighted, in order to offer better management of operating temperatures and thermal comfort.
There is also new software Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO 2 to improve stability and dynamism, as well as precisely defining the electronic setup. A different calibration on each of the three recallable levels is highlighted. A new strategy designed to fine-tune the intensity of the engine braking based on the load in the rear area. In the first braking phase, with little load on the rear tire, the EBC EVO 2 uses less engine braking, maximizing the action as it approaches the center of the curve, where the intervention of the engine brake transmits the highest action when braking the motorbike and closing the trajectory. Factor that facilitates a more balanced intervention of the engine braking control. As suggested, the locking of the rear wheel is attenuated during more intense braking.

Technical aspects and performance

The motorcycle is equipped with a frame “Front Frame” with an evolved chassis following what was done with the Panigale V4 range. In addition to the aluminum frame and single-sided swingarm, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 S for 2023 features semi-active Öhlins suspension with a 30mm NIX43 upside-down fork e TTX36 shock absorber, in addition to aSmartEC 2.0 interface. The swingarm pivot is 4 mm higher, increasing the anti-squat action which promotes higher stability, together with precision and the ability to maintain the trajectory during progression and exit of corners. The rims are Marchesini, forged in aluminum alloy with reduced unsprung masses. The curb weight amounts to 197,5 kg. The weight distribution is shifted towards the front area, further loading it according to insertion and driving precision.
The engine Desmosedici Stradale of 1.103 cc has been revised in calibration, taking into account a larger diameter of the silencer outlet, adopted to attenuate the exhaust back pressure. On the right side is the clutch cover of the Panigale V4, to be able to use a dry clutch and protect the clutch cover. In Euro 5 configuration, the power reaches a peak of 208 horses at 13.000 rpm and torque 123 Nm.
The range of matching accessories includes different solutions including mudguards, aero kits, billet aluminum controls, carbon fiber frame and crankcase protections, approved silencer kits, tire warmers and stands.
A plant is also sawn Ducati Performance full-racing exhaust by Akrapovič, designed for use on the track. The silencers are raised and close to the tail, resulting in a reduction of the overall weight of five kilos and a power of up to 220 horses. The noise level is within the limit of 105 dB, or 102 dB with the adoption of the dB killer.
