Two examples of the new one Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally they are surrounded by the evocative panoramas of Kenya, in the film proposed by Ducati on Youtube. The dynamic qualities of this motorbike stand out, the novelty told in the third episode of the web series Ducati World Premiere 2023.

A technological model

The structure always includes a aluminum monocoque frame, in addition to a double-sided swingarm cast in aluminum shell. Among the new features, a new roomy one stands out in particular 30 liter aluminum tank, just as there is a windscreen redesigned and increased by 40 mm in height and 20 mm in width. The tail is elongated with a rearward suitcase attachment, obtaining more space in the area intended for the passenger's legs. Footpegs with larger rubber inserts are also adopted, in order to reduce the level of vibrations.
Bearing in mind the availability of saddles at different heights for the rider and passenger and a lowered suspension kit, the motorcycle can be customized according to needs. A function Minimum Preload, already present on Multistrada V4 S in 2022, it allows the rider to lower the bike during stops and low-speed movements, limiting the preload of the shock absorber. Also introduced a function Easy lift which, by opening the suspension hydraulics at the key-on, attenuates the effort needed to lift the motorbike from the side stand, through the compression of the shock absorber and fork. To facilitate loading and unloading of side cases and any maintenance on long journeys, the central stand is fitted as standard.
Another interesting aspect is the adoption of semi-active suspension with increased travel of 200 mm, which translates into greater ground clearance, but also more extended footrests for the rider, a sleeker profile with a removable rubber insert, a Power Mode dedicated to off-road and a refined Skyhook DSS EVO control strategy.
I tubeless spoke rims with black channel, are redefined and lightened to intensify the dynamic qualities, according to the indications.

To support active safety, the model also integratesABS cornering which allows the use of the system's braking power even when leaning, as do the other solutions Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Traction Control (DTC), therefore the Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) which facilitate visibility in the evening hours by illuminating the inside of the curves. A series of systems associated with inertial platform (IMU) to optimize each intervention, based on the lean angle and pitch.
An Autoleveling function is also indicated to have a constant attitude as the driver, passenger and luggage configuration changes, keeping the characteristics of the vehicle unchanged.
The instrumentation is visible on a 6,5 inch color TFT screen with map navigation functionality, thanks to the Ducati Connect application.
The technological innovation is also represented by a front and rear radar system to support Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) e Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
Four Riding Modes are listed: Sport, Touring, Urban ed Enduro, this latter method is evolved. Opting for the Enduro Riding Mode calls up a dedicated Power Mode which limits power to 114 horsepower. The DSS Evolution operates according to an off-road use logic with a specific load mode icon, represented by an off-road helmet. There is also a transition to a lower level of intervention provided by the DTC and the DWC is deactivated like the ABS on the rear wheel. The cornering function and the detection of rear part lifting are also inhibited, considering off-road use.

Motor

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally it is always powered by an engine V4 Grandtourism da 1.158 cc. A powerful heart with a total weight of only 66,7 kg. Among the sophisticated features, we highlight the torque curves dedicated to each individual ratio and a counter-rotating crankshaft, the result of the experience gained by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, which counteracts the gyroscopic inertia of the wheels.
It is also highlightedunprecedented extended deactivation strategy of the rear bank, introduced on this specimen. An innovation that debuts for the first time on a production motorcycle. Together with the damping of the rear cylinders at idle when the bike is stationary, a feature that is already present on the Multistrada V4, the V4 Granturismo engine now keeps the rear bank deactivated in other operating conditions.
According to the new strategy, deactivation also occurs while moving, then as speed increases or above a certain power, the rear cylinders are reactivated. The system is operational in all Riding Modes.
The power reaches altitude 170 horses (125 kW) at 10.750 rpm with 121 Nm (12,3 kgm) of torque at 8.750 rpm.

Availability and options

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally it is expected in dealerships from February 2023. Two matching colors: Ducati Red e Brushed Aluminum & Matt Black, in this last case with visible brushed aluminum tank.
There are three setups, choosing between: AdventureRadar with Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection functionality; Adventure Travel & Radar with heated grips and seats, plus aluminum side cases; Therefore full adventure which together with the aforementioned equipment also includes a carbon fiber front mudguard and an approved Akrapovič silencer, according to the information.
There is also a large range of matching accessories including windshield, saddles, additional LED headlights, satellite navigator with dedicated support for those who want to go off-road and various transport solutions for the tank and rear plate and steel tube engine guard.
Speaking of aesthetics, to obtain a sportier connotation, we also mention various parts of the carbon fiber trim, dynamic LED indicators, levers and footrests machined from solid aluminum and brake and clutch fluid reservoirs machined from solid material.
Clothing has also been designed so as to make the most of the model's tourist qualities. The Atacama C2 suit includes detachable sleeves, areas dedicated to ventilation and three independent layers, also considering the thermal lining and the waterproof membrane.
The Strada C5 suit is made with a robust and modular stretch fabric in thermal protection, highlighting a detachable internal Gore-Tex® membrane and an internal down jacket which, once left on the motorbike, can also be used alone.
