V4 Granturismo engine and 170 horsepower

Protagonist of the third episode of the web series Ducati World Premiere 2022 is the new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak, the gritty face of the signed dual overview Ducati.

The motorcycle

A motorbike with shapes that recall the characteristic features of the Multistrada V4, enriched with identifying elements: the “Pikes Peak” livery which draws inspiration from the dress of Desmosedici GP '21 with number plates drawn on both sides of the tank; a single sided swingarm , 17 inch front wheel.
A model linked to the Multistrada V4, considering the concept and the V4 Granturismo engine, but distinguishable based on the interventions regarding the chassis, ergonomics and electronic controls, in addition to the specific components that underline its sporting nature. The model features several carbon fiber parts and an Akrapovič approved silencer made of titanium and carbon. Among the aesthetic components, the low smoked plexiglass, the Ducati Corse shield visible from the front, the gold-colored anodization of the Öhlins fork sliders and the two-tone black and red rear saddle with the V4 logo also stand out.
Furthermore, consulting the Ducati Performance catalogue, there are various accessories with which to highlight the characteristics of the example.

Technology and technique

The model features a sophisticated electronic package characterized by radar technology front and rear with functions connected to the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC, Adaptive Cruise Control) and al Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
The innovations concern a greater orientation towards dynamism and sportiness, considering the introduction of the Race Riding Mode and with the Ducati Wheelie Control equipped with an updated strategy for superior response and more precise control. The ABS Cornering is also configured to be high-performance.
The motorcycle is equipped with a dashboard TFT, whose screen results from 6,5 inches. It is possible to consult a map navigator thanks to the Ducati Connect and mirroring with your mobile device.
There are also interventions in the chassis part, defined around a 17-inch front wheel which supports precision and agility of travel.

The frame is an aluminum monocoque, revised to obtain a different inclination of the steering head 25,75° compared to the 24,5° of the Multistrada V4 with recalibrated trail and wheelbase cycling quotas, based on a different use of the vehicle.
The same ergonomics are defined for an optimization of control and lean angles, as can be seen from the different riding position compared to the Multistrada V4, given a lower, narrower handlebar with a less marked curvature, as well as more raised footpegs and set back, so as to favor the maximum lean angle.
They appear Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension, for the first time on a Multistrada example, to support performance with the use of a “event based” system, similar to that of the specimens Ducati Panigale V4S e Streetfighter V4 S, which self-adjusts depending on the driving style expressed.
The braking system, derived from that of the Ducati Panigale V4, features a layout with discs in the front area 330 mm and Brembo Stylema® monobloc calipers, to which are added Panigale V4 pads. Behind there is a single disc from 265 mm in diameter, flanked by a Brembo floating caliper.
The example is equipped with 120/70 and 190/55-17 sports road tires wearing Marchesini forged aluminum rims, weighing 2,7 kg less than those of the Multistrada V4 S. As reported, the total weight of the model it is 4 kg lighter in comparison.

Motor

The engine of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is the V4 Grandtourism. A unit optimized according to the characteristics of the bike and which features new features. Of particular note is the inclusion of the Race Riding Mode, developed for the model, for the first time on a Multistrada. A Race map added to a more racing strategy for the limiter, which comes in gradually compared to the Multistrada V4, alerting the rider well in advance to encourage sporty driving. The quickshifter also has a specific strategy that allows for sharp downshifts, as well as the implementation of a more direct throttle-throttle relationship in Power Mode High, as suggested.
A light and compact heart, considering a weight of 66,7 kg which allows for functional balancing. Interesting maintenance intervals are also highlighted with a valve clearance check every 60.000 km. The transmitted power reaches i 170 horses at 10.500 rpm and the torque peak is 125 Nm at 8.750 rpm.

Proposal

As indicated, the example will be available in dealerships in the Ducati network starting since December in the Radar version only, which includes front and rear radar as standard.
