Ducati Multistrada V4: a powerful new generation presented [PHOTO AND VIDEO]

Sculpted appearance, technological contents and a redefined V4 engine. The new one presented Ducati Multistrada V4.

Aesthetics

The fourth generation appears articulated and dynamic. The symbiosis of one Lightweight aluminum monocoque frame derived from experience in MotoGP with one two-element rear trellis structure, a new double-sided swingarm, the 19-inch front wheel, the same superstructures, the deflectors, the vents and the embedded light clusters with a connotative light signature DRL and full lights LED with easy cornering light su Multistrada V4 S e S sports, in addition to integrated indicators, complete a muscular and aerodynamic vision also strengthened by compact proportions and a 22-litre tank. Near this there is a space where there is a USB socket where you can store, for example, the phone connected via Wifi or Bluetooth to the interactive system.
Functional aerodynamics also from a thermal point of view, combined with optimized overall ergonomics with a narrow central section, a more welcoming seat with adjustable height in two positions, the exhaust refined from the point of view of the manifold and terminals (a stainless steel mono-silencer with double catalyst and four lambda probes). Technique and technology

The vehicle is equipped with an adjustable front fork with upside down legs of 50 mm in diameter, while as mentioned the rear solution is progressive with a monoshock which is also fully adjustable with remote management of the spring preload and a double-sided aluminum swingarm. The wheel travel in the front and rear areas amounts to 170 and 180 mm respectively.
The braking system varies slightly from Multistrada V4 e V4 p e S sports, composed at the front of two 320 mm discs with Brembo monobloc calipers with four pistons and two pads or 330 mm on S and S Sport with radially mounted Brembo M50 Stylema® monobloc calipers with four pistons and two pads with radial master cylinder. While at the back there is always a 265 mm disc and Brembo two-piston floating caliper. In any case a Cornering ABS system. The wheels wear 120/70 ZR 19 tires in the front area and 170/60 ZR 17 tires in the rear area.
The wheelbase amounts to 1.567 mm, the height from the ground reaches 220 mm (46 mm more in comparison with the Multistrada 1260, as mentioned) and the standard seat is adjustable in two positions at 840 and 860 mm, with the possibility of adopting a lowered saddle with 50 mm of foam for a height of up to 810 mm. Or you can opt for a saddle with increased thickness reaching 875 mm.
One of the peculiar innovations already anticipated is the adoption of radar in the front and rear areas, as auxiliary devices. The driver always has control of the vehicle. An idea that the Emilian company had been interested in for some time, collaborating with the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Polytechnic of Milan, from what emerged.
The front radar is associated with the adaptive cruise control, while the rear one is concerned with vehicles present in the so-called "blind spot" or approaching at a high speed, as indicated.
The 5-inch TFT digital instrument panel on the Multistrada V4 and 6,5-inch with Ducati Connect and map navigator on the V4 S and S Sport versions are also functional. The reported package of solutions is also varied, listing in addition to the aforementioned Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection also DTC, DWC, DQS and systems such as the latest generation Quick Shift, as well as four Riding Modes opting between Sport, Touring Urban and Enduro, then Autolevelling, four Load modes depending on the load and over 400 parameter combinations for the semi-active Ducati Skyhook suspension considering the V4 S and S Sport versions.

Motor

The new drive unit, anticipated through four theorems dedicated to as many interesting aspects, is also compact compared to the V2 unit present on the previous Multistrada, taking into account a lighter weight of 1,2 kg. Of note are Euro 5 approval, a power of up to 170 horsepower compared to a functional output and the valve clearance control interval at 60.000 km is equally impressive.
The four-cylinder V-shaped engine arranged at 90° results from 1.158 cc. A heart that weighs 66,7 kg, designed to convey a sporty character but at the same time versatile and valid in the travel-enduro panorama. 85mm shorter, 95mm lower and 20mm wider than a Testastretta DVT engine.
Characterizing factors are also the 70° staggered arrangement of the crank pins which, associated with the cylinder layout which proposes a "Twin Pulse" firing order, the damping of the cylinders behind with the engine at idle, the presence of a counter-rotating shaft and a new distribution with spring valve return system.
The maximum power, as mentioned, reaches i 170 horses at 10.500 rpm, while the maximum torque of 125 Nm at 8.750 rpm. Power to be compared to a dry weight of 215 kg (in the case of the Multistrada V4, 218 kg for the V4 S and 217 kg for the V4 S Sport). A six-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift Up & Down system is indicated.

Versions

Ducati Multistrada V4 will be available in dealerships starting from the end of November. The proposal is articulated starting from the specimen Multistrada V4 in Ducati Red color with black rims. There Multistrada V4 S in addition to the red color, it is also available in Aviator Gray together with glossy black wheels and red tags, opting for spoked or alloy wheels. Essential, Travel, Travel & Radar, Performance and Full configuration packages have also been designed and can be ordered from the factory, allowing the model to be enriched according to the required needs. So the Multistrada V4 S Sport with a specific Sport livery and glossy black wheels and red alloy or spoked tag which includes the Performance package with carbon front mudguard and Akrapovič exhaust.
