Also in S version

An example weighing five kg less and refined from an ergonomic point of view, compared to the previous model. The new Ducati Multistrada V2, also proposed in version S, is a twin-cylinder developed for travel.

Design

The motorbike is the protagonist of the first episode of the web series Ducati World Premiere 2022. An episode full of images, landscapes and references related to travel on two wheels.
Aesthetically, the sportiness typical of the brand emerges combined with more elegant features and refined details. The characterizing aspects of the Multistrada family can be recognised, considering in particular the sculpted points alternating with the more sinuous ones. The front area is more pronounced than the rear area, more slender and compact. The new graphics are also distinctive with the name highlighted on the sides. The color range includes: a “Ducati Red” associated with black circles for Multistrada V2 e Multistrada V2 S, therefore a livery “Street Grey” with black frame e “Red GP” rims only in the case of the variant S.

Technology and ergonomics

The result of an evolution that concerns weight reduction, technical and also ergonomic evolution, as mentioned.
Starting from weight reduction, the work was directed at multiple elements, achieving a reduction of 5 kg compared to Ducati Multistrada. Several components have been lightened, for example the mirrors derived from Multistrada V4, the front brake disc flanges and the rims still derived from the Multistrada V4 and approximately 1,7 kg lighter. Among the Ducati Performance accessories there are also spoked rims, which are also lightened. Other interventions concern the evolution of the engine, obtaining a saving of approximately 2 kg, between connecting rods, gearbox, clutch of 1,5 kg and cover and drum, as indicated.
The motorcycle is equipped with a front trellis frame with two associated cast side frames, closed by a rear load-bearing element developed in technopolymer loaded with glass fibre. Also featured is a double-sided swingarm made of shell-cast aluminium. The cycling part designed to offer agility and versatility of movement includes a 19-inch front wheel. Also highlighted is a Ducati Skyhook Suspension EVO semi-active suspension system present as standard on the S version.
Moving on to ergonomics, the other important aspect, overall driving comfort was taken into account. A work of optimization of the seat, defining a narrower and more compact saddle shape between the rider's legs, with a flat area that allows the rider to move freely in the longitudinal direction. The height is reduced to 830 millimeters, while allowing you to put your feet on the ground more easily, given a crotch arch of 1.790 mm. The Ducati Performance catalog also features a low seat and a lowered suspension kit, which in combination bring the seat height to 790 mm.
Remaining on the riding position, comfort is also determined by the adoption of new footrests inherited from the Multistrada V4 which, considering a distance from the saddle increased by 10 mm, also respond to the needs of tall riders, favoring a more functional position while riding of march.

Technology

On the Ducati Multistrada V2 S there is a full-optional package which, in addition to the aforementioned Skyhook electronic suspension, also includes a full LED headlight equipped with the Ducati Cornering Lights function which optimizes brightness according to the inclination, a high-resolution 5-inch color TFT dashboard and controls on the backlit handlebars, Cruise Control, Ducati Quick Shift Up & Down and Hands Free system.
The new Multistrada V2 includes innovative solutions designed for travel enthusiasts as standard. The package includes four Riding Modes to choose between Sport, Touring, Urban e Enduro configurable by the user and a new Ducati Brake Light system which, in the event of sudden braking, automatically activates the rear light to flash to signal a sudden slowdown. Also noteworthy are ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control and Vehicle Hold Control which assists when starting on slopes.

Motor

The engine of the Ducati Multistrada V2 it is an evolution of the twin-cylinder Ducati Testastretta 11th da 937 cc with desmodromic distribution. A 4-valve per cylinder, water-cooled unit, in Euro 5 configuration. The refinements concern the presence of new connecting rods, a new eight-disc hydraulic clutch and an updated gearbox. An improvement that can be found especially in association with the optimized quickshifter. The various interventions allow a lightening of the total weight of the engine by approximately 2 kg, as mentioned. The maximum power delivered is 113 horses at 9.000 rpm and a torque peak of 10 kgm at 6.750 rpm. Extended maintenance intervals are also noted: oil change every 15.000 km and valve clearance check every 30.000 km.
For the first time in the Multistrada overview, the new Multistrada V2 Ducati is also offered in a version 35 KW, thinking of those who have an A2 driving licence.

The new Ducati Multistrada V2 will be available in Ducati-related dealerships from November 2021, even in a weakened version. In Italy, on 35 kW models, to encourage young enthusiasts to enter the world of two wheels, Ducati offers a discount of 1.000 euros on the list price.
There are two set-ups linked to the model and which can be ordered directly from the factory: an Essential set-up which concerns the Multistrada V2 and Multistrada V2 S; therefore a Travel setup with side bags, heated grips and central stand only for the S variant.
