Ducati Multistrada D-Air: the first motorcycle with a wireless airbag system

The system monitors the dynamic situation and activates within 45 milliseconds

As happened with cars in the 90s, motorbikes are now adopting a system integrated into the vehicle to control a airbag inserted in the motorcyclist's jacket. This innovation is presented by Ducati with the new one Multistrada D-Air, equipped with an integrated system connected wirelessly to Ducati jackets equipped with airbags, signed Dainese. This is an "absolute first" in the motorcycle sector that combines the innovation of two important Italian brands and represents an important step forward in safety in the world of two wheels.

Combining the great experience of Ducati and Dainese, a passive safety system has been developed which, thanks to sensors and aelectronics integrated into the vehicle, has a constant understanding of the dynamic situation and is activated exclusively in a real accident condition.
The Multistrada D-Air system performs data analysis and deployment of the jacket airbag of both the rider and the passenger in just 45 milliseconds, considerably reducing the risk of injury.

This new Ducati model developed together with Dainese further underlines thecommitment of the Italian brand to improve safety, already guaranteed by the Ducati Safety Pack with multi-level adjustable ABS and traction control.

Further information on the Ducati Multistrada D-Air will be released on April 15th while the new model will be available through the Ducati sales network as of May 2014.
