Ducati Multistrada 1200, two examples for Benedict XVI

Just today, during an event that took place at Castel Gandolfo, Ducati Motor Holding paid homage to the Vatican State with two examples of Ducati Multistrada 1200. The motorcycles will be used by the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps, which takes care of the service accompanying and protection officer of the Supreme Pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI.

The two Ducati Multistrada 1200s, decorated with a new livery, personalized with the shades of the flag of the coat of arms of the Papal State (the gray and yellow of the two intersected and perpendicular keys), were assigned to the new legitimate owners right in the Pontiff's summer residence , the villa in Castel Gandolfo. The gardens of the residence, in the part adjacent to the heliport, painted a perfect scenography: there, a delegation from the Borgo Panigale motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati, delivered the two Multistrada 1200s to Pope Benedict XVI.

The event in Castel Gandolfo saw the representation of Carlo Bonomi (one of the heirs of Anna, the lady of finance, whose fund, Investindustrial, purchased part of Ducati in 2005), Andrea Bonomi (President of the Investindustrial fund) and Gabriele Del Torchio (President of Ducati Motor Holding since last year), who had the opportunity to entrust, turnkey (in the literal sense), the two Ducati Multistrada 1200s to the Pope himself.

President Del Torchio admitted: “We are particularly honored to have had the opportunity to deliver the two Multistradas to the Holy Father. This meeting represents for us, for all the women and men who work at Ducati, a source of particular pride and confirmation of the commitment made daily by the entire company. A symbolic gesture with which we want to testify the appreciation of the entire Ducati towards the teachings of the Supreme Pontiff, collecting the message of trust and hope addressed to the world of work contained in the encyclical>”. It is the first opportunity for the Vatican Gendarmerie to use motorcycles in the escort and security service of Pope Benedict XVI.
