Bold vision and greater lightness

During the web series Ducati World Première 2023, the second novelty from the Borgo Panigale brand is the Ducati Monster SP. A model characterized by functional technical contents for a lively driving experience.

Design and contents

Ducati Monster SP it is a further evolution of the Monster concept, after the recent redefinition of the model. Various elements are highlighted which favor sporty driving and contribute to weight reduction.
The sportiness of the new Monster SP emerges already by observing the graphic design, which recalls the colors of the Desmosedici GP fielded by the official team, also considering other details such as the golden anodization of the Öhlins NIX30 fork, the large Ducati logo on the tank which draws inspiration from the graphics of the Ducati Panigale V4, the red saddle integrated into the side view with the tail, the Monster SP logo visible on the passenger seat cover and the introduction of a Termignoni approved silencer.

Technical and technological aspects

The electronic part of the new Ducati Monster SP is top notch, given the presence of ABS cornering, Ducati Traction Control e Ducati Wheelie Control, all manageable at various levels of intervention. We also highlight a Launch Control and Riding fashion sport, Road e Wet to define the character of the motorbike based on needs. Management is via handlebar controls and a 4,3 inch color TFT dashboard equipped with sporty graphics that still recall those of the Panigale V4, looking for example at the large rev counter and the various information on the left, including the gear indicator.
The braking performance, the limited load transfers and the accentuated ability to close the trajectories, as well as refined precision, are linked to the different elements that make up the model's chassis.
We start from one steering damper which intensifies stability during acceleration and cornering, together with the adoption of Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires as original equipment. The aforementioned electronic part is connected to the action of the Riding Modes and electronic controls, in order to maximize the qualities of the chassis, also taking into account the introduction of the new Riding Mode Wet for increased safety on wet surfaces.

There are Fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, of which a fork is 0,6 kg lighter than that present on Monster and Monster +, obtaining a strengthened sensitivity together with an increase in ground clearance and lean angle, as suggested. The suspension system is also based on a more aggressive calibration which intensifies the character of the bike on mixed sections, making it possible to make the most of it on the track.
The braking system has been strengthened with the presence of Brembo Stylema® calipers and aluminum flanges for i 320 mm front discs, emphasizing a weight containment of 0,5 kg compared to the Monster's equipment. Solution that allows the new Monster SP to express greater performance in the braking phase and marked agility with the reduction of inertia at the front end.
The overall containment of mass is also linked to the introduction of a lithium ion battery, obtaining a savings of approximately 2 kg in running order compared to the traditional example, which in this respect is already a reference in its respective category, while recalling the presence of elements such as the fairing and the steering damper.
The Monster's recipe remains confirmed: a frame of Superbike origin associated with a proactive heart.
Il frame it's a Front Frame reminiscent of that of the Panigale V4, an aluminum base placed directly on the engine heads. The engine is a Testastretta 11° twin cylinder, 4-valve liquid-cooled with desmodromic distribution. The power reaches i 111 horses.

Proposal

The new Monster SP is expected in the dealerships of the Ducati network since January 2023, even in a weakened variant from 35 kW for A2 driving license holders.
