Ducati: is a cross model coming? Or maybe not…

Ducati – 2018 ends with a bang at home Ducati, or rather around the world of the house of Borgo Panigale. According to some unconfirmed rumours, in fact, the company would be interested in entering the world of cross in the near future and for this reason is thinking of launching the promo model with knobby wheels.

Ducati launches into cross-country?

For the moment there are no official confirmations from Bologna, but the rumors on the web are multiplying. To tell the truth, all the indications lead us to think that it could be the return of a hoax (or fake news, if you prefer) that has been circulating for some time. We are in fact five years since the last similar "rumor", which wants to make us believe that Ducati can focus on the world of cross, to open up a new slice of the market and enrich an offer of absolute level with regards to road production (such as also demonstrated by the successes in MotoGP and Superbike). The Rossa in motocross version should have a 450 cc single-cylinder engine. This engine, even if designed mainly for off-road use, could also have a future declination for road models, following what were the words expressed by Claudio Domenicali, in recent months, on the possible creation of small engines to attack the much-coveted Asian market, where small-displacement motorcycles are a must. It's difficult to predict whether the Ducati cross version will actually see the light of day, for us it's likely that it won't happen (at least in the short term), but who knows... it could be great news for 2019 which is upon us.
