Ducati e Audi they team up in the development of a new system capable of raising the level of safety on roads around the world. As announced in April, the Bolognese company has developed a project called "Safety Road Map 2025" which aims to develop new safety systems and technologies. From here the ABS Cornering range was born and the introduction on the market, in 2020, of a motorcycle equipped with front and rear radar.

Ducati: the C-V2X system arrives

Together with various partners, Ducati is developing some new technologies that will be able to equip its motorcycles in the medium and long term. One of these is the C-V2X system, an acronym for Cellular Vehicle to Everything, which allows wireless communication between cars, motorcycles, pedestrians, bicycles and infrastructure, and is a fundamental step towards 5G for automotive applications with direct communication between vehicles and the surrounding environment. The demonstration of the functionality was held in Germany and saw a Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro, an Audi Q7 and an Audi A4 interact with each other, all equipped with Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X processors. During the test, situations that commonly arise while driving were simulated, situations in which motorists do not notice a motorbike approaching or maneuvering. The aim was to demonstrate how C-V2X technology can be applied to improve road safety. Very common situations in reality were simulated: warning of possible collision at an intersection in which a car notices in advance the arrival of a motorbike from the right, warning of collision between a car turning left and a motorbike arriving from the opposite direction, finally, warning of sudden braking of the two-wheeled vehicle in front.

Ducati: the C-V2X system results

The Bolognese company said it was very satisfied with the results obtained, as confirmed by Pierluigi Zampieri, Head of Vehicle Innovation at Ducati: “The success of these tests is the demonstration of how modern technologies can, in the future, drastically improve the safety of motorcyclists. Functions based on the C-V2X communication system are one of the key projects of Ducati's "Safety Road Map 2025"".
