Ducati: operating margin confirmed at 7%
"The company is generating the resources to continue financing the development of new products" said CEO, Claudio Domenicali
Ducati closed 2018 with 53.004 motorcycles delivered all over the world, a figure that certifies the constant growth of the Bolognese company. It is the fourth consecutive year that the Borgo Panigale company has managed to exceed 50 thousand units sold, despite the global decline in the market for motorcycles over 500 cc.
The difficulty of 2018 turned out to be in one of the usually most solid markets for Ducati, that of the United States. In 2018 there was a decline of 9%, recovered in part thanks to growth in the Asian market, particularly the Chinese one. The 2018 turnover stood at 699 million euros, while the operating result was 49 million euros. The same as the previous year. The Borgo Panigale company therefore, despite the decline compared to 2017, managed to compensate for the decline thanks to the success of the higher margin models, such as the Panigale.
Claudio Domenicali, CEO Ducati Motor Holding, stated: “The year 2018 was challenging from many points of view but we are satisfied with our financial performance despite a difficult year. The company is generating the resources to continue financing the development of new products which gives us hope for the future as well."
Oliver Stein, CFO Ducati Motor Holding, added: “Financial solidity is extremely important for the company to be able to support the technological development program in which Ducati is currently fully engaged.”
