Ducati closes 2018 with a slightly negative result, -5%, compared to last year, but thanks to the driving force of the Panigale, which has established itself as the best-selling super sports bike in the world, and the Multistrada family, the Borgo Panigale company does not it is excessively affected by a market that is increasingly moving towards 'intermediate' engine sizes.

The Panigale was the best-selling super sports bike in the world, in this sector one in four motorcycles is Ducati branded. Within this family, obviously the queen was the V4, thanks to the 6100 examples sold in just 12 months all over the world. The Multistrada family also did well, closing with 11.890 motorcycles sold. The domestic market is growing, in Italy sales have in fact increased by 4,5%, as well as in Spain, Switzerland and Japan. The American market slowed down the growth of the Bolognese company. In the United States, deliveries fell 9% compared to last year. The market that seems to be the one where the 'Red' is most in difficulty is the Asian one, but 2018 ended with a positive trend, especially thanks to China where sales increased by 29%.

Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding said: “Despite 2018 being a challenging and difficult year for the large-displacement motorcycle market, with a slowdown in countries important to us such as the United States, Ducati closes with over 53.000 motorcycles delivered to customers all over the world, consolidating the growth achieved in recent years. 2018 was a year in which we stabilized, therefore positive from both a commercial and sporting point of view. We have won many races in MotoGP and developed an extraordinary bike. The solidity of the company is therefore confirmed and this allows us to continue to work with determination on innovation and product development, to offer our passionate customers, also in the coming years, new icons of style and technology".

Francesco Militia, Global Sales Director, added: “To meet the challenges of the market we are working to make our sales network even more effective. We have also completely renewed the Scrambler 800 range which includes, among other things, an important improvement for active safety such as cornering ABS. We have launched new products such as the Diavel 1260 and the Hypermotard 950. The Multistrada family sees the entry of the 1260 Enduro and the 950 S which complete the proposal to our customers. Finally, we introduced the V4 R, the most powerful and technological super sports bike ever produced by Ducati, to have a new starting point for competing in the Superbike championship and which has already received extraordinary appreciation among our enthusiasts. We are talking about a total of nine new models that make us look positively to the future."
