Massimo Taburini's example

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary, the prototype of the famous Rimini designer is present at the Ducati Museum until January 15, 2020

La 916 “personal” di Massimo Tamburini is exposed to the Ducati Museum since last July 25 2019 and admirable until 15 January 2020, as reported, celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the historic sportswoman of Borgo Panigale.

The motorcycle

Specifically, it is one of the three prototypes on which the same designer worked Massimo Tamburini, along the development phase that anticipated its production, way back 1994. A particular example, which also allows us to evaluate some interesting aspects of the vehicle from a stylistic and conceptual point of view. Visible thanks to the collaboration with the daughter of the great designer, Simona Tamburini.
The model features elements that unite it with the series 916 SP, i.e. the most performing version. A fiberglass exterior and various carbon fiber components such as: front mudguard, airbox, air ducts, license plate holder and exhaust pipes. As well as a lightweight single-sided rear swingarm and five-spoke magnesium wheels, which at the time were elements developed for competitions. The instrumentation is essential, given that there is no odometer, but only the engine rpm panel and the water temperature indicator, just as there are no direction indicators, repeating what has been highlighted.
The famous designer from Rimini, already author of Step 750: for Ducati, thinking about 916 gave shape to a sports car that is still considered today "Revolutionary", through six years of intense work and without the use of a wind tunnel, as mentioned.
