Tragic accident this morning on the Nardò track, in the heart of Salento, owned by Porsche, where a car and a motorbike collided. In the impact with the car Mattia Ottaviano, 35-year-old test driver of the two-wheeled vehicle, has died.

The collision during a braking test

According to initial reports, the motorbike collided with a Porsche Panamera, with two test drivers on board, and the two-wheeled vehicle caught fire on impact. According to what has been reconstructed, the accident occurred during a braking test session and it would have been a rear-end collision: the car would have stopped moving and the test driver on the motorbike would not have had time to brake or avoid it. 

Rescue attempts were useless 

Immediately after the accident, rescue was carried out for the man, with an 118 crew who intervened on the spot, but who were unable to do anything for the man because the 35-year-old died instantly. At the site of the accident, which occurred inside the plant in the Boncore area, there were also patrols from the State Police, the local police of Nardò and Porto Cesareo, as well as the Spesal, a service that deals with prevention and safety in work, given that the accident could be classified as an accident at work.
