Dovizioso dominates the Flat Track Race at World Ducati Week
The number 4 repeats the success of the last edition by beating Xavier Simeon
Andrea Dovizioso confirms himself as a wizard of the dirt road by also winning the 2018 edition of the Flat Track Race, the great event dedicated to scramblers during the World Ducati Week.
Flat Track Race: the race
What took place yesterday was a battle with no holds barred, with endless twists and turns. The 15 minutes of free practice served the competitors (Bayless, Dovizioso, Rabat, Simeon, Petrucci, Rinaldi, Miller and YouTuber Pirillo) to become familiar with the sand and curves of the track. Quarter-finals (with the surprise elimination of Bayless at the hands of the Belgian Xavier Simeon) are played on the edge of tenths and in the stands there is delirium due to the light and precise touch of Dovisoso, the unpredictability of Simeon, the spectacular driving of Petrucci , who eliminated an excellent Pirillo in the first round, the real surprise of the event. The final for third place sees the success of a fierce Petrucci on Rabat, while in the final Dovizioso sharpens his weapons and leaves no escape for the unfortunate Simeon who, however, receives full applause.
Flat Track Race: Dovizioso's words
The Ducati Corse team manager tried to define this as a simple exhibition, but in his heart he knew that the Flat Track Race would be a real race due to the spirit of competition that distinguishes the riders and the fact that everyone would want to put their name on the WDW bulletin board number 10. Andrea Dovizioso succeeded in the most difficult thing for an athlete, confirming himself, repeating last season's success: “Confirming yourself is increasingly difficult. It was a good race, I had fun making some nice crossings."
