After the presentation at EICMA 2011, the arrival of the new version of the People GTi 300 ABS has been made official at KYMCO dealers. With this version, the People GTi range is renewed and confirms its technological leadership in its respective sector.

Braking system

Braking is one of the People GTi's strong points. The new braking system with two discs reduces braking distances to a minimum and significantly increases the safety rate, enabling even the least experienced user to stop quickly without problems. The 260 mm front disc uses a new floating caliper with three parallel pistons for better heat dissipation and better braking efficiency. The rear system also uses a 260 mm disc with single-piston caliper. Both systems are under the control of the ABS anti-lock braking system.

The brain of the ABS system is represented by a high-speed calculation electronic control unit which checks the status of both wheels and controls a hydraulic pressure distributor. The ABS control unit constantly monitors the sensors that track and verify the rotation speed of a pair of tone wheels mounted on the rims. If there is an insignificant change in speed between the front and rear wheels, even such that it cannot be perceived by the driver, the control unit intervenes on the distributor by initiating a rapid change in braking pressure which allows smooth deceleration, avoiding any locking of the tyres. All of this happens with such rapidity that it prevents the tire from slipping before this eventuality actually begins.

The ABS system is of vital importance especially when friction conditions are poor, as happens on wet surfaces, on cobblestones or when crossing metal plates, allowing all drivers to exploit the full braking potential of the vehicle.

The ABS control unit has a self-diagnosis program that constantly monitors the main electronic and hydraulic components of the system.

The amenities

The double headlight uses double row LED position lights, a feature that is now a distinctive element of the latest generation KYMCO scooters. The People GTi therefore has its own distinct personality and confusing it among the mass of high-wheel scooters is practically impossible.

The modern and compact instrumentation is analogue-digital, also characterized by a rich multifunction digital display. The saddle is wide, comfortable even for use as a couple and boasts an ergonomic shape designed to optimize the comfort of the rider and passenger. People GTi has a large, absolutely flat footboard, for maximum comfort and maximum load capacity. The generously sized front shield offers optimal protection against the elements, not having the bulk of the radiator, People GTi offers great space for the legs, a compartment for storing some small objects and also has a practical hook for bags.

With a power of 29 HP at 7.750 rpm and a torque of 30,1 Nm at 6.250 rpm, it offers performance absolutely comparable to vehicles with larger displacements with negligible consumption. Cycling

The great performance of the G5 engine required careful design of the People GTi chassis. Although it does without the central tunnel, the steel tube frame uses a special reinforcement gusset at the steering head. The result is a very rigid and efficient chassis, perfect for ensuring the People GTi has a superior driving feel and very high level safety. The telehydraulic fork ensures maximum riding precision and optimal shock absorption thanks to a travel of 110 mm. The ideal defense to face pavés, potholes and manholes without any problem.
The rear suspension is of the classic type with the oscillating engine-transmission unit, which operates a double shock absorber with adjustable preload. The 100 mm travel allows for maximum driving efficiency and comfort.
