“Save motorcyclists” decree registered at the Court of Auditors, the installation of protective devices is mandatory

Registered at Court of Auditors the so-called “save motorcyclists” decree, a document on which they worked anyway Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Danilo Toninelli, Then the undersecretary Michele Dell'Orco. Its entry into force is therefore imminent.

Specifically, the decree makes the installation and therefore the presence of appropriate devices on Italian roads mandatory Motorcyclist Saving Devices (DSM), i.e. barriers that mitigate as much as possible the possible consequences of a violent impact against a guardrail. An awaited and functional document, considering the requests made for years by motorcyclists themselves. Going into even more detail, based on what is reported on the ministry portal, the so-called motorcyclist-saving barriers on circular curves with “radius less than 250 meters in cases of new construction interventions, adaptation of existing road sections which involve route variations and/or renewal of road safety barriers on significant sections, or on existing roads not subject to interventions but where they have occurred in the three-year period at least five accidents with deaths and/or injuries, involving motor vehicles and/or mopeds", reporting what is indicated in the note released.
